The article of Time Magazine on November 1, it reported that drug-resistant gonorrhea spread around the world.

Researching about the drug-resistant gonorrhea, WHO said the drug-resistant gonorrhea was appeared recently, and it might not be treated by an antibiotic in near future if the number of drug resistant gonorrhea will be increased.  From 2009 to 2014, about 78million people are infected with Gonorrhea, and 97% of 77 countries are reported about appearance of drug-resistant Gonorrhea.

Now, doctors use Cefixime that is an antibiotic, but they start to stop using it because Gonorrhea is having resistance of it and difficult to be cured.  On the other hand, in the United States, medical professionals recommend using a combined therapy of the antibiotics ceftriaxone and azithromycin.  In 2016, 47,000 new cases of gonorrhea are reported by CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention).  In 246,000 of 470,000 cases, gonorrhea has resistance at least one of antibiotics.

In Japan, drug-resistance gonorrhea for ceftriaxone was reported at Kyoto in 2009.  After the case, National Institute of Infectious Diseases researched about the drug-resistance gonorrhea, and they reported that pandemic of it haven’t had occurred since then.

At last, people are infected gonorrhea by sexual conduct.  Because there is no antibiotics for protecting from gonorrhea, using contraceptive device is important to protect from sexual transmitted disease.
