DR Congo Ebola outbreak spreads to Mbandaka city

Health Minister in DR Congo confirmed a Ebola case in Mbandaka where is a major transportation hub with routes to the capital Kinshasa.

The article said at least 45people have been infected with ebola and 25 death are being investigated.

Ebola is a serious infectious illness that causes internal bleeding and often proves fatal.

At this time, the world Health Organization(WHO)has called emergency meeting and discuss about the risk that Ebola might spread beyond DR Congo.  WHO is now concerning about an explosive increase of Ebola because city of Mbandaka is located on  the Congo river, and it may have huge risk of spreading to surrounding countries.

People are infected by the Ebola through the blood, organs or other body fluids of infected animals such as chimpanzees, gorillas, monkeys and so on.  For protecting from Ebola, WHO sent 4,000 doses of experimental vaccine to the Congo, and it would be given as a priority people in Mbandaka.  The Ebola vaccine called rVSV-ZEBOV is provided and has been shown to be safe in humans and highly effective against the Ebola virus.
