International Medical Transportation

From February to March, We were extremely busy with medical transports, so I could not keep up with real-time updates-and my blog posts are now a bit behind.
This time, I'd like to share the story of a March transport mission to  Brazil.🌎

Since joining the clinic, I've done transports to Southeast Asia and various other places, but I often find myself  assigned to long-haul flights- to destinations like Europe,Brazil, and  Mexico.
As a result, I've earned the nickname ''long-flight specialist'' within the team.
As many of you know, Brazil is literally on the opposite side of the globe from Japan-and it really felt that far!

I flew from Tokyo to Sao Paulo via Dubai, and the journey took about 30 hour one-way.
Honestly, after making it through that, every other country now feels  pretty close by comparison.

In this case, the patient was a Brazilian resident living in Japan who had suffered a cervical spinal cord injury, resulting in partial paralysis.
They wished to return home to Brazil.
For medical transport cases like this, we typically submit a MEDIF(Medical Information Form) to the airline beforehand.
If it is approved, the patient is cleared to board the flight- but final boarding permission always lies with the captain, which means there's always a bit of tension, no matter how well we prepare.

This time, we used a foreign airline with a layover, and arrived safely in Sao Paulo.
A local medical team met us at the airport for the handover, and the mission was successfully completed.

Brazil really is far, and I was completely exhausted after the journey.
But on the return flight, I somehow managed to sleep for over 20 hours straight- so by the time we landed in Japan, I was surprisingly refreshed!

The doctor who accompanied me seemed a little too concerned about how much I slept.😪

As a little personal tradition, I always collect fridge magnets from the countries I visit.
This time, I picked up a cute Brazil magnet at Sao Paulo airport- actually the doctor chose it for me,  and it is now one of my favorites.🌹

Since we had a little freetime after the patient handover, we took the chance to do some quick sightseeing in Sao Paulo.
We visited a church, cycled through a local park...
But the doctor's cycling pace was way too fast, and I could barely keep up.
I will leave you with an off-duty shot of the doctor power-pedaling on the bike.

The rainy season is just around the corner here in Japan.☔
Let's all eat well, take care of your health, and stay strong through it.

See you soon,Have a nice one(^▽^)/
