Okinawa Times Plus reported on October 19, 2017 that percentage of people who had shot measles and rubella in Okinawa is lower than another prefecture.  Because of this, medical personnel in Okinawa has strong sense of impending crisis.

National Institute of infectious diseases announced the number of patients who are infected measles are larger than last year and recommend taking vaccine.

Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare published the schedule of vaccination.  People need to have two shots for Measles and rubella.  The first shot is scheduled for 1 year old, and the second shot is scheduled older than 5 years old and less than 7 years old.  Bothe case, people get shot as free.  Only four prefectures such as Okayama, Nara, Kumamoto, and Kochi are lower than 95% of vaccination rate on first term, but only 10 prefectures such as Yamaguchi, Akita, Kagawa, Aomori, Shimane, Niigata, Fukui, Okayama, Ibaraki, and Saga are only prefecture that shot rate is more than 95%.

Measles has strong infection power and sometimes cause of death, and Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare recommend having vaccine.  If you have any questions, please contact public health center near you.
