International medical evacuation♪Philippines part2~edokko~
International Medical Transportation
It has been a while.
This time, we did an international medical evacuation from Malolos of the Philippines to Japan.
Malolos is about a two-hour drive from MNL airport.
As you all know, another nurse went to the Philippines twice and I went there in this case.
But the doctor went there so many times, so she is a Philippines expert!!!!)
I usually travel to major cities, so I rarely face issues with accommodations or transportation.
However, this time was different.
I had a mission during a major holiday in the Philippines, and the destination was far from a big city. That combination made things quite challenging.
We received the escort request on the 16th, and our flight was on the 18th which meant we only had two days to prepare everything.
Because of the holiday season, hotels were mostly fully booked, and it was difficult to find a place to stay.
Arranging taxis was also a problem since it was during a holiday, even the Ride-hailing services were unavailable.
We ran into a number of issues during the preparation stages as well..
I truly appreciate all the support I received from our staff. (Special thanks to them for handling everything in advance💛)
But the chaos didn't stop after arriving in the Philippines.
When we tried to move from the hotel to the hospital the next day, we attempted to call a taxi, but there weren't any available in the area where we stayed.
We also couldn't use ride-hailing apps like Grab, and were told that we would have to use 'Jeepneys' or motorcycles instead.
By then, I wasn't even surprised anymore.
Nothing went smoothly, and unexpected things just kept happening. hahaha
I rode a jeepney for the first time.
Although I felt a bit nervous at first, it actually seemed like a convenient way to get around in the hot Philippines🚙
Anyway, the patient's condition remained stable throughout the escort, and we were able to return to Japan safely without major issues.
Thanks to the local medical team in the Philippines, who helped us take photos and supported us warmly throughout, I truly felt at ease.
I am very grateful☺
We cannot do international medical evacuation without everyone's help🌎✈

This case, we were given a happy opportunity.
Family sent us a picture of the patient's smile after being hospitalized in Japan.
It made me super happy, and their smiles reminded me why I do this work.
There are many differences between Japan and other countries, and things don't always go smoothly, but I truly felt that the job is meaningful when I see patients and families happy and relieved🌸

This time, the patient was transported to Japan while still on a ventilator, in a business-class seat on a commercial flight.
In cases where the patient's condition is stable, it is sometimes possible to return home on a commercial flight.
Even if you are initially told it may not be possible, please consult us.
We may be able to help in some way.
Please feel free to reach out to us anytime!
